A wet, drawn-out rainstorm soaked the Yuma area with more than half an inch of rain Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, with about a 50/50 chance of more this weekend.
All the moisture left area growers and field workers struggling with a muddy mess to work around as the produce season begins to head toward a potentially early end.
Doug Mellon of Mellon Farms, which operates throughout the Yuma and Wellton areas, said the warm autumn has sped up growth of leafy greens and other produce, creating a glut of produce and driving prices down. (Read More)
